Manhole: Ashiya City

Ashiya(芦屋) City is part of Hyogo Prefecture and is located between Osaka and Kobe.

I found these manhole covers last year and feature it in this post but I feel like posting them in a separate, dedicated post just for it :).

The Kanji(Japanese Characters) indicated 雨水 or Rain Water. The design depicts the Azalea , the city’s flower symbol.

This one I am a bit doubtful. It does not look like a tree, it looks more like a boat in the water. I found this near the Marina so I guess it it same to assume that this maybe different kind of boats in the Marina.

Palm tree boats? 😛 At first glance it made me think of the skyline in Sydney, Australia, actually.

I would say that the second one represents stylized pine trees over the water and boats!

Thanks. I was having doubts if its the tree that symbolizes the city because of the boats and water. But you are probably right , thanks for the comments 🙂
