Marriage, breakup and relationship

My gossip radar just went berserk  a few days ago, when I saw a person on my FB news-feed together with another guy but not her husband. With a few chat with our common friends I got some of the tidbits. Suffice it to say the marriage did not work out.

Another surprise on the same day, is that another coworker before who I taught was happily married also broke up with her husband.

I am not a marriage counselor or by any means well a relationship guru but it makes me really wonder,  what does it take to make a relationship work?

While R and I were gossiping ( during work :p ) , our main question was : What happened? Where did all the love go?

It a way it was a lesson for me and also for R that nothing last forever. Somethings work and something don’t.  It made me think about a lot of things , sacrifices, happiness, dreams, togetherness and even selfishness.

  1. Perhaps we need to think in terms of recycling. Something well-tested may be worth another chance, but if it’s threadbare then bury, cremate or consign to history. Above all, allow time for the hurt to heal – then move on. Remember the lesson, but don’t nurture the pain.

    • when you mentioned “recycling”, I remember the saying “Somebody else’s crap might be somebody’s Treasure”.
I do firmly believe that if it’s worth fighting for then fight till the end, make it a good fight but if it was doomed from the start why bother. Live and learn right?
      Thanks for the input 🙂

  2. I don’t blame it entirely on this, but I think the world we live in where we’ve become accustomed to instantaneous gratification has left us wanting in the ‘just try harder’ department. These days, if something doesn’t work you just throw it away… Unfortunately that seems to be the case with everything.

  3. Someone once told me marriage is like playing craps. Sometimes you win, sometimes you don’t, but you don’t know until you roll the dice. I’m sorry to hear the news. It has to be tough on the couples.

    • I guess it is. You will never know what you got into till you are in it.
I can only imagine what they went through. But base on their FB pages, it looks like they both found a way to move on, I can only wish them luck.
