Shanghai’s Best

Shanghai’s Best

I have been meaning to really try this infamous meat bun in Machida.  When I first saw the store people are lining up and it looks so good, and it was really good.

It say’s Shanghai’s famous food, Friend Little Meat Bun.

There’s way to eat this meat bun.

-> Make a hole on top of it and pour the soup on the soup-spoon.

->  sip on soup then bite on the bun or is it the other way around. well any will do as long as u eat it

Machida is about 3o-40 minutes from Shinjuku on the Odakyu Line : Rapid Express or Express, and about 1 hour on Local. One way is about 360 yen.

A day at the Beach

A day at the Beach

T came early this month after almost 3 months. Last time we went for a walk he got teased by an old Japanese guy. This time he was not teased but he made a friend of an old Japanese guy.

We were supposed to go to Enoshima that Saturday but due to the sports activity in T’s school, we have to move it to Sunday.  It took around 1 hour from my station to Katase-Enoshima on the Local Odakyu Train.

Sunflower Festival

Sunflower Festival

I have seen some sunflower but not  a whole field of them, so when M invited us to go see a Sunflower festival I automatically said yes. Unfortunately M’s work schedule was changed and she could not join us. It was just C and me. Last Saturday , August 21st , C and I went to Zama City. Meeting time was 10:30 am but C kept on getting on the wrong train and arrived at Zama Station around 11:30 and the free shuttle leaves every 30 minutes so we had a light snack/lunch first and took the 12 noon bus.

The sunflower were huge. Instead of facing the sun, it was bowing to it.

A Walk to Machida

A Walk to Machida

I woke up really early this morning , I wanted to sleep more but I can’ t just, I finally give up and decided to challenge myself for a walk to Machida Station along Odakyu Train going to Odawara.

Along the way I found some interesting things

I wish this little guy would turn to a really beautiful butterfly.

The Kawasaki Art Museum , a minute or 2 from Odakyu: Shin-yurigaoka Station(新百合丘駅) .

When I reached Tsurukawa Station, I decided to have a little breakfast at Mister Donuts and around 15 minutes break there too.

I also spent around 30 minutes walking around Yakushiike(薬師池公園)Park when I reached Machida City.

The water Lily Fieldgoo thing though that were still some Lilies blooming in the Water Lily field.

Up Close and PersonalUp close and personal

Droplets!!

The park was huge , I walked around the side so that I won’t divert from my real route. They also sell some really cheap organic vegetable within the park. I got some really nice pack of eggplant and bitter gourd.

I continued my walked to machida following the bus route. I was really surprised to see that Machida is a bustling area. Lot of really areas that you can explore. I found the Nikkuman( meat bun) place, but there was already a long line there, and I was already hungry so I got myself a really big bowl of Mabu Tofu at a nearby Chinese restaurant.

It took me about 4 hours to get there and accdg to google maps, the shortest route is 13km. Very nice long walk !!

Ikuta Rose Park

Ikuta Rose Park

Finally ,  the park opened last May 18 so M and I decided to go even though weather forecast said it’s going to be a rainy day.

The place as amazing, and lots and lots of roses of course.. they have around 530 kinds of roses planted all over the place. The place smelled so nice and beautiful.

and i found out that I have my very own rose.

Ikuta Ryokuchi Park

Ikuta Ryokuchi Park

I totally understand why the people of Kawasaki loved this park so much. Ikuta Ryokuchi Park(生田緑地公園), is such a lovely place to relax and be in touch with nature.

Japanese Folk Houses

The Japanese Folk Houses is within the park but has an entrance fee of 500yen(adult).

The planetarium

The dome is where the planetarium is located.

Taro Okamoto Museum of Art

This is a gigantic statue , the base part look the tentacles of an octopus :D

** got more picture to upload but i think i’ll put it on my picasa album :D

Getting There:  Take the Odakyu Line ( Local, Express , Semi-Express ) and get off at Mukogaoka-yuen station.

It’s about 10 minutes walk from the  station.

Spring is taking a break

Spring is taking a break

Woked up freezing last Saturday and when I looked out the window, it’s snowing in the middle of April.  The cherry blossoms are mostly gone so it should be a little bit warmer now but I guess “weather god” decided to skip Summer and Autumn and went to Winter again.

By mid-day the weather warmed up a bit and went for a walk hoping to get to Yomiruland Theme Park.

I took the wrong turn and ended up somewhere in Ikuta, did not see much since I basically in rural area. But did saw some dainty flowers along the way.

pretty violet

little white bell

I have no idea what flower these are, but they were so dainty and so pretty..
