Kansai Culture Month

This month, Kansai Area of Japan celebrated culture month. Museums of all shapes and sizes were free. Together with R,R, D and J we went to Osaka Science Museum and Museum of Art. Entrance to the science museum was free but the planetarium was not. Selected exhibit in the Museum of Art were also free.

Enternal Rest

Just got the news a few hours ago, my uncle , my mother’s brother just passed away. He had a heart operation recently and then last night they remove a tumor from his brain. Two major operation in less than a year, even though his will to continue living was strong, his body just gave up on him.

I was just a little girl when he stayed with us since he was going to a local university. I can remember that he was very hardworking and would never say no to what my mother would ask of him. He did all the house chores, even those that were supposed to be assigned to me. We argue when I fight with my little sister, he would always take her side.

It seems that he calls my mother everyday, talking to her and giving her encouragement. I almost never call home, cause it makes me homesick and of course very expensive so I am thankful to him for making the effort to talk to my mother even though he is sick.

I never knew how sick he was, I wish I could have done something more, helped them but now its too late and all I could say is “I wished I had ..”

I just hope that wherever he is right now, he will not feel anymore pain.. may your rest in peace Uncle Dodong..

who does not know that line. I think every girl who watch snow-white wishes even once in her life for that line to come true. BUT I have to admit, I never knew who was the lovely voice behind it .. till today. Meet Adriana Caselotti.

Although Disney suppressed her blooming career , she still kept on singing the songs.

Nightview and Rubber Duckie

R told me that the Rubber Duckie has been moved to Nakano-shima near the Rose Garden so on my home from the meeting yesterday I passed there yesterday to see the yellow rubber duckie.

And I noticed as I was walking towards the garden they have some lights on the bridge and it looks mystical.

The roses were also in bloom

For the past 6 months, I kept passing this pastry shop and though I was intrigue I did not have the chance to taste their product till last week. H came for a short visit and when we passed the shop, she immediately recommended it and got me two of their cakes.

Introducing Chat Noir’s Pumpkin Cake and Yam Cake

Pumpkin

It looks very simple but wait till you get in the middle. A nice chunk of pumpkin and cream is hidden beneath. I really love it. It is not too sweet and it really goes well with black coffee or green tea.

There is also a nice surprise once you get to the middle.

So if you ever pass by any of Chat Noir shop be sure to check some of their cakes.

North of Takarazuka, Hyogo Prefecture Japan. Entrance to the field was 200 yen and you can cut and buy as much as you for 50yen per stalk. I really don’t like cutting flowers but I do love to take picture of them. Unfortunately, I was not able to take as much as I want this time because I run out of battery

Karaoke and Cosplay

Jankara ( ジャンカラ) is a chain of Karaoke all over Japan. In Umeda/Osaka alone you can almost find them in every corner BUT did you know that you can also wear cosplay costumes while singing your heart out ?

Ohatsu Tenjin Branch ( お初天神店 ) in Osaka have this option. Cosplay costumes are free though they are not exactly clean, there are also some wigs available.

Oh and sizes are a bit small too ..

Barbara Market

We celebrated R’s birthday last weekend. He took us to this cozy restaurant underneath the JR railroad in Osaka – Barbara Market. Though the food was not really to die for, the ambiance of the restaurant was really nice.
