Merry Christmas!!

Mikimoto Christmas Tree (Ginza)

I’ve spent 4 Christmas in Japan already but still I keep hoping some resemblance to what I hope Christmas would be. My first  Christmas in Tokyo was spent watching Nodame Cantabile Orchestra in La Theater Ginza and dinner with my cousin’s family. This year,  after I got off from work I decide to join the Christmas mass in San Franciscan Church at Roppongi.  I have some time before the mass, so I walked from my office to Church, while passing Roppongi Midtown there were lots of people about but mostly couples and then I was reminded , oh yeah Christmas here in Japan = Valentines Day. I wanted to watched the Illumination but I felt so pathetic walking alone there, so I kept thinking , I don’t have my camera I’ll just come back tomorrow.

So after the mass I went home ,  and went to sleep :D

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE and HAVE a PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR 2010

Our National Hero has a little spot at side of Hibiya Park.  I heard from an colleague that you can find the statue of Jose Rizal in Hibiya area. Last weekend since I was in the area, I decided to do a little bit of exploring at the nearby park and I did found it.

My New Toy

Posted in Life In Japan with tags on December 12, 2009 by samokan

If you read my previous post “Turning Digital”,  I have always wanted Kindle and when I found out they shipped it already in Japan and other parts of the world, I can’t stop looking at it in amazon. Then I found out from friends that Ipod Touch have also the ebook reader application and my 1gb mp3 player have no enough space for my songs, I reevaluated my choice to IPOD TOUCH.

So before i change my mind, I hopped on to the train for Akihabara and went to Yodobashi camera and get me a 32gb Ipod Touch and I have no regrets whatsoever even though i might not be able to use my credit card for awhile. :D

Some people have asked me why not iphone? well because I don’t want to pay too much for a phone right now and I don’t want to get tied up with the 2 years contract with softbank.

The only difference between the two is the phone capability and camera. I have a phone and I prefer other types of camera. You will know what it will if I got already :D

So now, I listen , I watch , I read, I email, I browse, I play , I view on my new toy :D

Tokyo Passes

Posted in Life In Japan with tags on December 12, 2009 by samokan

When in Tokyo, how can you maximize your day without spending too much on transporation? There are several tokyo pass that can be used.

JR Tokunai Pass -> Can be used all over Metro Tokyo District and it will only cost you 730yen(Adult). Unlimited ride on JR East Railway. I’ve used this pass one or twice when I had a visitor a couple of months back and it was really worth it.

Tokyo Metro Line -> For Tokyo Subway , there are several types of ticket/pass you can avail. Each of can be purchased on Subway Ticket Machine ( most have already English menu ). Cost around 700-1000yen.

Toei Line Pass -> Toei is a bit expensive compared with other lines, but some of the major tourist destination in Tokyo are within the scope of this line. -> Toei Buses are also included with this pass.

Enjoy Tokyo :D
